CIWA works with over 150 business partners each and every year, and these partners make a significant impact in our community – by volunteering their time, their knowledge and insights, their space, or offering employment to newcomers in Calgary.
For the month of April, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Osuji & Smith Lawyers, an award-winning, diverse and fast-growing law firm that offers a full range of legal services. Osuji & Smith Lawyers provides cost-effective strategy and individualized representation tailored to each client’s specific needs and concerns.
In 2021, Osuji & Smith Lawyers started offering work practicum opportunities to CIWA clients through the Career Services for Foreign Trained Professionals program. Through this partnership, CIWA and Osuji & Smith Lawyers bridge the gap for immigrant and refugee women with work experience and relevant skills necessary to enter the Canadian workforce as Legal Assistants and take the next steps on their path to becoming lawyers in Canada. Osuji & Smith Lawyers has hosted practicum placements for thee CIWA clients, and the firm continues to provide mentorship and guidance even after the placement.
Thank you, Osuji & Smith Lawyers, for supporting the workplace readiness of immigrant and refugee women in Calgary and for making our community stronger!
