Security Guard Training

Program Description

This free, full-time 6-week program prepares immigrant women to gain practical skills in emergency response, communication, health and safety, and understanding the Canadian legal system for careers in Alberta’s growing security industry. The program also focuses on observation skills and writing clear incident reports—key skills for working as a security guard. Participants receive professional training based on the Alberta Basic Security Training (ABST) curriculum and prepare for the Alberta Security Licence exam while developing the workplace skills employers are looking for.

The program runs Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with two intakes each year: April and October.

Eligibility Clients

• Permanent Residents or Convention Refugees
• Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5–6 or higher
