Sunterra Market

CIWA works with over 150 business partners each and every year, and these partners make a significant impact in our community – by volunteering their time, their knowledge and insights, their space, or offering employment to newcomers in Calgary.

For the month of May, we would like to sincerely thank Sunterra Market. Sunterra was founded by Stan and Flo Price. Today the business is run by their children and grandchildren, who continue their legacy of innovation and quality. The seeds of Sunterra took root on the family farm over 40 years ago in Acme, Alberta. To showcase the top quality meat and provide customers with a unique European-style shopping experience, Sunterra Market launched in downtown Calgary at Bankers Hall in 1990. To date, the company has 6 stores in Calgary.

The family-owned company values many things: from farm to market and right through to our customer’s table, honesty, integrity and pride. In addition to producing fresh food business, their first priority is to be good to those around them.

Sunterra has been working with CIWA since 2013, acting as a host of CIWA’s Retail Training Program clients, attending CIWA events, and employing graduates from the Food Service Training, Line Cook Training, and the Retail Training Program. Sunterra has assisted CIWA with more than 23 clients to date.

Thank you, Sunterra, for supporting the economic security of immigrant and refugee women in Calgary and for making our community stronger!
