Childcare Training Pathway

Program Description

This free program supports immigrant women in building confidence and developing the language, technical, and workplace skills needed for a career in childcare. Delivered in partnership with Bow Valley College, the program combines classroom learning with hands on experience to help you transition into employment.

The program is offered from August 10, 2026, to March 19, 2027. Classes are held Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Participants must be able to commit to a full-time, in-person program for 7 months.

This program is currently waitlisted due to high demand. We encourage you to register for the waitlist, and we will notify you as soon as a spot becomes available.

    Eligibility Clients

    • Immigrant women who are permanent residents, convention refugees and Canadian Citizens   with language and cultural barriers.
    • Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 3-5 or higher
    • The program is available to immigrant women with no more than 12 years of education
    • Unemployed, underemployed women
    • Should not have attended any schooling in Canada (except for language course) 
    • Participants who can commit to a full-time, in-person program for 7 months

    What you’ll gain

    • 26 weeks of in class training
    • 4 weeks of work placement in a childcare setting
    • Foundational knowledge in childcare, child development, and communication
    • Occupational English language training
    • Workplace essential skills including teamwork, problemsolving, and time management
    • Interview and resume preparation
      Computer training and digital skills

    Certifications You’ll Earn

    • Level 1 Early Childhood Educator
    • First Aid & CPR

    Additional Program Information

    • Level 1 Early Childhood Educator is offered in collaboration with Bow Valley College
    • Childcare and transportation reimbursement (where eligible).
    • Ongoing job search support.
    • Referrals to additional CIWA programs and community resources.
