Elena Esina holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from University of Calgary and a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management from Russia. She is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary where she currently works as a manager for a large-scale research initiative called Shift: The Project to End Domestic Violence. Elena brings more than 15 years of a vast array of expertise in social work, project management, finance, research and entrepreneurship to the CIWA Board.
Since her immigration to Canada in 2009, Elena has been continuously involved with CIWA as a participant in a youth bridging program, an employee, a volunteer, a business partner and a member of the financial committee. She is a strong advocate for empowering immigrant women and their families and continuously volunteers with various organizations and immigrant communities in Calgary.
Over the years, CIWA did not just help many of my dreams come true but taught me to dream big, and I am honoured to have an opportunity to put my experience and passion to work by supporting the strategic vision of CIWA and making the difference in the lives of immigrant women and their families.
