CIWA works with over 150 business partners each and every year, and these partners make a significant impact in our community – by volunteering their time, their knowledge and insights, their space, or offering employment to newcomers in Calgary.
For the month of September, we would like to sincerely thank F.O.C.U.S on Seniors, a non-profit and volunteer driven organization designed to support older adults who are 55+. F.O.C.U.S on Seniors offers activities, social events, community interactions and educational programs to seniors so that they may become part of the greater community in Calgary. F.O.C.U.S stands for Friendship, Opportunities, Community Involvement, Unity and Synergy.
F.O.C.U.S on Seniors has been working with our newest program, the Companion Training Project since July 2021, and they also had previously collaborated with CIWA’s My Community My Home program. The Companion Training Project equips immigrant and refugee women with the skills needed to enter the workforce as Companions to seniors or other individuals requiring homecare assistance. To date, F.O.C.U.S on Seniors has offered work placements for two of our clients, and are in the process of placing four more.
Thank you, F.O.C.U.S on Seniors for supporting the economic security of immigrant and refugee women in Calgary, and for making our community stronger!
