Pathways to Success

Program Description

The project serves immigrant girls between the ages of 14 and 21 as mentees to enhance their career readiness through a yearlong career focused mentorship. The mentees are paired with mentors who have similar career/education interest and can relate to the challenges mentees face when settling in a new country and adjusting to a new culture.

  • Ongoing group mentor/mentee sessions
  • Training for mentors
  • Field trips to job fairs
  • One-on-one consultation with mentors
  • Additional language and academic support
  • Recreational and cultural activities that promote intercultural understanding
  • Interactive career focused group workshops with professionals
  • A 20-hour job shadow experience
  • Build confidence, leadership and enhancement of public speaking skills

Eligible Clients

The program is available for all immigrant youth 14-21 years of age.

  • Project participants gain practical insights of Canadian workplace and interested career fields through job shadow experience
  • Project participants conduct an annual event to involve and educate the larger community
  • The program partners with schools and community organizations
