FRN Rural Multicultural Supports Project: Enhancing Family Resource Network (FRN) Services for Newcomer, Immigrant and Cultural Minority Families
Program Description
This project addresses the needs of immigrant families in rural areas of Alberta through a collaborative partnership with Multicultural Health Brokers Cooperative (MCHB). It aims to increase the capacity of FRN programs to serve cultural families in rural communities across Alberta.

- Family-focused intercultural practice development for universal programming and targeted and intensive supports
- Organizational-focused intercultural capacity building initiatives
- Specialized network and community navigation for FRN’s in rural areas of Alberta
Eligible Clients
This project is available to the immigrant, newcomer, and ethno-cultural families served by Family Resource Networks in rural areas of Alberta. Additionally, the project is available to support the service providers working for the Family Resource Network.
Additional Program Information
- Consultation for universal programming with a focus on culturally-responsive programming
- Brief direct family support to facilitate relationships development between families and local service providers
- Catalyzing and deepening relationships between FRNs, settlement sector supports, and ethnocultural community organizations and natural leaders
