Career Services for Foreign Trained Professionals

Program Description

CIWA’s Career Services for Foreign Trained Professionals program supports immigrant women in Calgary to practice their employability skills and gain relevant work experience needed to join the Canadian workforce in various professional fields.  Clients receive English language enhancement and essential employability skills training including digital skills. Career planning includes individualized labour market assessment, employment skill building, and job search support.  11 weeks of classroom training is followed by 12 weeks of Canadian work experience. The program is available to immigrant women who are permanent residents or refugees with a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 or higher.

  • Digital skills training such as MS Office Suite, Survey Monkey, Prezi, Canva, Power BI, Cloud Storage, SharePoint, Google Workspace, and Digital forms
  • Canadian Workplace Preparation
  • Pronunciation Support
  • Job search, optimal resume writing, and interview practices
  • Individualized labor market analysis and career action plan

Eligible Clients

  • Immigrant women who are permanent residents or refugees
  • CUAET holders
  • Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 or higher, with post-secondary education
  • Professionals with minimum of 1 year of office experience outside of Canada

Additional Program Information

  • Follow-up job search support after program completion
  • Referrals to other CIWA programs help participants access additional support services
  • Participants may be reimbursed for childcare and transportation costs
