June has been with CIWA for 15 years, supporting immigrant families with young children through her roles in the Healthy Families and Home Visitation programs.
June was working at a bank in Hong Kong prior to coming to Canada. She arrived in Calgary in 1995 with her husband and two daughters. She initially worked in the publishing industry for 8 years, and then learned about CIWA through an assignment while studying Early Childhood Education Diploma at Bow Valley College. June is now the Team Leader for the Home Visitation Program through the Family Resource Network at the CIWA Hub.
June appreciates the diversity at CIWA. She values new ideas, different perspectives and the willingness to support and empower newcomers in their community. She also appreciates that CIWA is a place for building confidence, connecting to resources and finding support as immigrant women still face isolation, as well as language, financial and cultural challenges.
“I am always learning something new as clients are from different cultures.”
June speaks Cantonese and Mandarin. She loves Travelling, listen music, playing the Guzheng. In fact, June has a Grade 7 (10th grade) certificate in Guzheng awarded by China Nationalities Orchestra Society.
Congratulations, June, for being nominated as CIWA’s Faces of the Month!
