Heba currently volunteers with CIWA’s reception team and the Everyday English for Seniors Program.
Born in Egypt, Heba spent part of her childhood in Australia before returning to her home country. She holds a Master of Arts in Elementary Education and brings more than 22 years of teaching experience to every space she enters. Her lifelong dedication to education, communication, and community support is reflected in the care she offers at CIWA each day.
Heba joined CIWA as a volunteer in July 2025 and quickly became an invaluable member of the team. In both her reception and teaching roles, she brings calmness, professionalism, and a warm presence that helps clients feel welcomed and supported. Even during busy or high-pressure moments, she manages each responsibility with grace and clarity.
She radiates gratitude for her volunteer experience and often shares how much she appreciates CIWA’s positive, warm, and welcoming atmosphere. Heba values the collaboration she sees among staff and volunteers and the way clients are consistently heard, respected, and cared for. These qualities make CIWA a place where she feels she can thrive and contribute meaningfully.
One of Heba’s favourite aspects of volunteering is the diversity of clients she meets. She finds purpose in listening to their stories, understanding their individual needs, and adapting her support to each unique situation. As she explains, every day brings a new opportunity to strengthen problem-solving skills, think creatively, and learn from newcomers’ lived experiences.
Heba is a professional and outstanding volunteer with excellent communication skills. She demonstrates strong punctuality, dedication, and commitment to her work. Heba welcomes clients warmly and ensures they receive the information they need in a clear and respectful manner. She is efficient in collecting and sharing information, and she reliably reports to me in my absence. Heba consistently goes above and beyond when assisting at the front desk, showing great initiative and teamwork
Volunteering, for Heba, is a continuous journey of growth. She finds joy in seeing clients leave their appointments relieved, encouraged, and smiling. A feeling she describes as “mission accomplished.” She also deeply enjoys offering interpretation when needed, knowing how much comfort it brings to clients when they can communicate in a language that feels familiar and safe.
Staff speak highly of Heba’s reliability, adaptability, and willingness to step in whenever she is needed. One team member recalls a moment when CIWA was short on volunteers; although Heba was not scheduled that day, she immediately offered to come in and help. Her professionalism, quick learning, and approachable nature have made her widely appreciated by both staff and volunteers.
Outside of CIWA, Heba enjoys reading, walking, teaching, and spending time with her children.
Heba’s commitment, warmth, and readiness to support others make her an exceptional volunteer and a treasured part of the CIWA community.
