Ariane, whose family is from Democratic Republic of the Congo, was born and raised in Lebanon. She holds multiple master’s degrees. Prior to moving to Calgary early in 2024, she worked as a Project Manager and Researcher with different non-governmental organization (NGO). As she aspires to continue on the same career path, Ariane chose to volunteer at CIWA because its mission aligns with her values.

Ariane immersed herself in a variety of roles with an eagerness to embody her commitment to support women with overcoming challenges through compassion and solidarity. She upholds CIWA’s mission through supporting special events, interpretation support, as well as through her role as an administrative assistant with the Business Centre and a substitute facilitator with one of the arts and craft groups for seniors.

Ariane enjoys holding space and providing step-by-step guidance for clients as they share their stories. She is grateful for the opportunity to give her utmost best for especially to clients who are in need of support.

Volunteering is a life-changing, humbling opportunity to help others in a way where I willfully choose to be available.  Volunteering is an opportunity to choose transformation.

Ariane Kitoko, CIWA Volunteer

,Ariane is a tremendous support to the Volunteer Program at different special events. Despite the rain and cold, Ariane brought liveliness to CIWA’s Aid Station for the Calgary Marathon. Her bubbly sunshiny spirit brought warmth and sunshine to an otherwise cool May morning. Most recently, Ariane dedicated two days at CIWA’s concession stand with the Rogers Charity Classic golf tournament. She intuitively took on tasks and provided excellent service to customers. She was a beam of light and friendship to other volunteers. Over the course of the weekend Ariane noted how fun it was to be there and how much she was learning about different aspects of Canadian culture. The days wouldn’t have been the same without her.

Staff within the Business Centre praise Ariane sharing that, “Ariane combines her professional expertise with a heartfelt dedication to helping others, always going above and beyond. Her intelligence and diligent work are matched by her ability to connect deeply with everyone she meets. She seamlessly handles administrative tasks, facilitates smooth communication with clients, and provides extra support whenever needed.”

Regardless of the role or circumstances, Ariane brings warmth, positivity and genuine kindness. Everything she does is top notch and staff have security knowing she will always bring her very best. She truly is a joy to be around; other staff, clients and customers greatly feel it, too.

Ariane’s hobbies include hiking, reading, boxing and cooking.
