Last Friday was spectacular as we came together to honour International Women’s Day. Our theme, “Inspiring Women’s Dreams – #dreamsinaction,” was vividly brought to life through the contributions of our esteemed speakers and the engagement of our attendees. The room was filled with excitement and anticipation as we embarked on a journey of celebration and empowerment.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the series of inspiring speeches delivered by esteemed individuals such as Chris George, President & CEO of Alberta Ballet, and Asiya Iskander, a young immigrant woman whose heartfelt words resonated with us all. Their messages of resilience, determination, and empowerment left a lasting impact on everyone present.

But the magic didn’t end there. We also had the privilege of recognizing the extraordinary recipients of the Siebens Jeam Scholarship. Their stories of dedication and achievement reminded us of the incredible potential within each of us to make a difference in the world.

Special appreciation is also extended to the Honourable Muhammad Yassen, Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism, for his endorsement and presence, reaffirming the importance of our cause in building a more inclusive society.

We would be remiss not to express our deepest gratitude to our sponsors – Scotiabank, Fasken, and Calgary TELUS Convention Centre – whose generosity made this unforgettable evening possible. A special thank you to Alberta Ballet for your ongoing partnership with CIWA.  It is through your support that we are able to continue shaping a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
