This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the successes of our clients – immigrant women, who have made great strides to reestablish themselves and their families in a new country. We also acknowledge that settlement hasn’t been easy for many women in the past two years and that countless women and children are currently afflicted by war.

Together We Rise

Women’s Legal Forum Gala & Fundraiser has kicked off the International Women’s Day celebration for CIWA! We are immensely grateful for the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association and this year’s Women’s Legal Forum Gala Committee for selecting CIWA as this year’s recipient. ACTLA’s fundraising campaign generated almost $60k of donations to help us provide services to immigrant women, who are not eligible to access government funded programs.

We also thank our former client, Stella Chukwurah, for representing CIWA at the event and for being a shining example of perseverance and resilience of immigrant women. Stella is a professionally trained immigrant woman and a mom of three kids. Upon completing Links to Success Program at CIWA, she received a practicum placement and employment at a renowned Alberta law firm. In 2020, Stella was called to the Alberta Bar and started working as a Legal Counsel at a midstream energy company.
