Gurpreet has been with CIWA since 2015, teaching and supporting immigrant women with their English language skills through her roles in Language Training and Childcare Department.

Gurpreet moved to Canada to find new adventures and set new goals in a new country. She moved to Calgary in July of 2015 and within a month, she was employed as a LINC instructor at CIWA. Since then, Gurpreet took on other roles as an instructor for Links to Success Employment, a LINC Team Lead, and a PBLA Lead Teacher, where she supported and guided other LINC teachers with lesson planning. Currently, Gurpreet holds the role of Program Liaison for CIWA’s Language Training and Childcare Department.

“CIWA is a second home to me as it was my first place of work in Calgary. CIWA connected me with wonderful co-workers and provided me with so many learning opportunities.”

Gurpreet is passionate about supporting the work towards gender equality. She took Feminist Studies in University and has always believed in gender empowerment. Her positions at CIWA provided her opportunities to encourage women to be themselves and allowed her to help empower other women to be stronger human beings.

“I love working with people and learning from their experiences. Various positions at CIWA gave me a chance to serve clients with different backgrounds and has been food for my soul. It gives me immense pleasure when I help my students achieve their personal and career goals.”

Gurpreet speaks Punjabi and Hindi. Beyond work, she loves reading and is currently drawn to  autobiographies.

CIWA is grateful for Gurpreet’s commitment and dedication to help fulfill the agencies mission. Thank you, Gurpreet, for your valuable service.
