On November 7th, three exceptional women received the prestigious Karnik Family Scholarship, a recognition of their dedication and hard work in pursuing their educational and professional goals. Each of these remarkable individuals has overcome unique challenges and is now poised to make a meaningful impact in their fields. The Karnik Family Scholarship is designed to provide financial support to individuals who demonstrate resilience and ambition, and we are proud to support these women as they continue to achieve their dreams.

 

Having settled here for many years, we understand the importance of community support. The Karnik Family Scholarship is our way of giving back, helping those who are building a new life, just as we were once helped.

Padmaja (Pam) and Umesh Karnik

Rachel Ann Castaneda – A newcomer from the Philippines, Rachel brings over 12 years of experience in solar manufacturing, with a specialization in production planning, manufacturing execution, and continuous improvement. She is currently pursuing a Post-Diploma in Data Analytics & Management and Leadership, aiming to broaden her skillset and contribute to the growth of the renewable energy sector. Her commitment to learning and adapting to new challenges makes her an inspiring figure in both the tech and manufacturing fields.

Anna Salamakha – An alumna of CIWA’s Career Services for Foreign Trained Professionals program from Ukraine, Anna has 15 years of diverse experience in the financial industry. Holding a master’s degree in finance, she is now preparing to earn her Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Her expertise spans across financial analysis, investment management, and strategic planning, and she continues to build on her knowledge to excel in her profession. Anna’s determination to succeed in a new country, while navigating the complexities of her field, highlights her resilience and dedication.

Aster Tekeste – An immigrant from Eritrea, Aster is determined to make a difference by pursuing a career in social work. She is currently enrolled in Open Studies, laying the foundation for her Social Work diploma. Aster’s passion for helping others, combined with her personal experiences as an immigrant, drives her commitment to support marginalized communities and advocate for social justice. She is deeply committed to her educational journey and aims to use her voice and skills to empower others in need.

Each and every one of these women exemplifies resilience, perseverance, and success in their own right. Their stories are a testament to the power of determination and hard work, as they continue to overcome challenges and pursue their dreams. Through the Karnik Family Scholarship, they are receiving the financial support necessary to further their education, develop professionally, and eventually contribute meaningfully to their respective fields.
