Program Description

Victims’ Supports Outreach Program for Immigrant Children, Youth and Families Affected by Family Violence (VSO) provides outreach support services for immigrant children, youth and families experiencing family violence.

The program works in partnership with Alberta Children’s Services – Calgary Region (CS) to provide off-site direct services for immigrant women and their families living in northeast Calgary. The program provides customized and culturally sensitive first language support to ensure the needs of the clients are met.

The services offered by this program include:

• Customized individual, couple and family counseling for immigrant clients who are experiencing family violence
• Culturally sensitive first language support to ensure trusting relationship between families, program staff and caseworkers
• Referrals to community resources
• Public education to increase awareness of family violence prevention at the community level
