Labour Market Bridging for Volunteers

 

This project provides interpretation and translation training and related work experience to CIWA volunteers.

Program Details

  • 50 hour translation training from Bow Valley College
  • Cultural Interpreter Language Interpretation Skills Assessment Test (CILISAT) and Interpreter Language Skills Assessment Test (ILSAT) preparation classes.
  • computer training (including Translation software)
  • employment skills training
  • job search support
  • English language enhancement
  • volunteer and work experience opportunities with CIWA and the University of Calgary Translation Association

Eligible Clients

This program is available to immigrant women who are permanent residents and currently volunteering with CIWA. Candidates must have Canadian Language Benchmark of 7 and higher as well as oral and written proficiency in a second language.
