Meet Tusti. She is a Receptionist in the Administration Department at CIWA.

Tusti initially contacted CIWA as a client, attending employment training workshops. She then volunteered at the front desk for CIWA’s Tax Clinic and Volunteer Program. Tusti has now been working at CIWA for three years as a receptionist. As the first point of contact for the organization, she assists newcomers with getting the services and information they need for a smooth transition.

“As an immigrant myself, I really feel great to be a small part of their new journey.”

Tusti moved to Canada in 2012 for a better and safer life. She initially worked in the retail industry and eventually completed her diploma in Business Administration at SAIT. Tusti enjoys meeting people from different social and cultural backgrounds. We share our stories, helpful information, build network and make good friends.

With immigrant women still facing isolation, abandonment, domestic violence, financial crisis, lack of information, language barrier, and unemployment, Tusti thinks that CIWA is doing an amazing job providing services and supports.

Tusti was born and raised in Bangladesh, where she gained a Bachelor’s Degree in English literature and worked as a teacher. Her mother tongue is Bengali, and she can also speak Hindi. Outside of work, Tusti likes travelling, doing yoga, walking and trying new recipes.
