Retail Training Program

Program Description

The Retail Training Program provides low skilled immigrant women to enter retail roles. The participants receive English Language enhancement and employment skills training. The training focuses on customer service, cash handling, health and safety, working with others, food demonstration, and entry level job access primarily focused the grocery sector. The Retail training class is from Monday to Friday 9:00 AM-3:30 PM.

Program Details

  • 11 weeks of in-class training
  • 4 weeks of combined work experience and training
  • Training in retail vocabulary, customer service and numeracy
  • Certificates in Basic Food Safety and WHMIS
  • Computer Training and equipment use
  • Canadian workplace preparation
  • Job search support

Eligible Clients

The Retail Training program is available to immigrant women, who are permanent residents and CUAET holders, have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 3-4, and require support in obtaining meaningful employment.

Additional Project Information

The program offers 2 intakes

  • April 2 to July 14, 2024
  • July 29 to November 8,2024

Work experience is offered in collaboration with retail businesses. Participants are reimbursed for childcare and transportation costs.
