SUMMARY:Civic Engagement - Young Women's Leadership Course
DESCRIPTION:Register with your PR card for a week of training at CIWA for Civic Engagement and Leadership.  Learn about your rights and freedoms in Canada.  Talk about how to get active in the community so you can volunteer to get Canadian experience or advocate for your passions in social justice.  Join us to learn more about the value of voting when you are a citizen.  Once you have completed the training we have a special class for you to create your very own presentation.  On the final day of the course you will be able to present your ideas to an invited group of women who are interested in Civic Engagement. \nWe will be training from February 6-10\, 2023 from 9:00am-12:00pm at CIWA. \nThis course is open to young women ages 18-24. \nContact Shannon Edeonu\, Program Coordinator\, at 403-263-4414 extension 199.

Learn more about the leadership impact of newcomer girls in the community because of peer mentorship at Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association. \nKeynote speaker Alice Lam will talk about how to get more active in the community to make a difference in the lives of people facing loneliness\, food insecurity and poverty. Learn more about how she helps everyone have access to resources that we all need. \nSupport newcomer girls as they host a large event to showcase our youth’s leadership strengths and talents. The event will kick off at 11:00 AM with an interactive resource fair!
