CIWA ready to serve Syrian refugee women and children
The door will be open at CIWA, offering specialized gender-focused support to refugee women and their families. Refugee women will be connected to information and orientation related to settlement, employment, family literacy, cross-cultural parenting education for parents with children of all ages, supportive counselling, and school-based individual counselling for refugee youth at five schools across the city. CIWA will offer refugee women customized employment services including drop in employment services and bridge to work programs, as well as employment training programs in the areas of accounting, office administration, interpretation and translation, childcare, food service, and retail. Refugee girls will have access to school and community-based youth programs at 15 locations with peer mentorship, civic engagement, and leadership opportunities.
We believe we all have a huge role to play in the collaborative community effort to support Syrian Refugees.
