Kids U

CIWA works with over 150 business partners each and every year, and these partners make a significant impact in our community – by volunteering their time, their knowledge and insights, their space, or offering employment to newcomers in Calgary.

For the month of July, we would like to sincerely thank Kids U. Kids U is an Early Learning Institute that serves families with children ranging in age from 0 months to 6 years, depending on the Centre. Kids U inspires open collaboration to create a student-centered, inquiry based learning environment that cultivates enthusiastic and globally-minded individuals.

Kids U believes that high-quality early childhood education benefits children, and children who experience a quality program are more likely to have greater academic success, enhanced self-esteem and increased self-control. Kids U strives to align programming and curriculum to build both spheres of the brain by using the Reggio philosophy, Montessori, and Provincial guidelines.

A primary goal at Kids U is for children to feel safe and secure. Kids U believes that a learning environment which fosters respect for cultural diversity and utilizes an eclectic approach to education allows for optimal growth and development of young children. Young children’s developmental tasks are to build trust, learn social skills, begin mastery of academic skills and develop positive self-esteem. In order to best support these tasks, their program strives to provide developmentally appropriate activities, well-trained and consistent staff, a safe and healthy learning environment, and continuity of care. Kids U also believes parents are their child’s first teacher and they work to support parents in their efforts to guide their child’s development as well.

Kids U has been working with CIWA for a year, hosting clients from the Childcare Development Worker Training Program and offering employment to 2 of our program graduates!

Thank you, Kids U, for supporting the economic security of immigrant and refugee women in Calgary, and for making our community stronger!
