Alice Lam was born in Calgary to Chinese parents who were refugees from Vietnam. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and recently returned from France where she completed a Master of Science degree in Management. She currently works as a commercial real estate professional under Certus Developments.
Alice has been an active volunteer helping youth and seniors reach their full potential for over ten years. Most recently she coordinated a mural project with the Chinatown community showcasing the artistic talents of Chinese seniors. She currently volunteers with the Calgary Chinese Community Service Association (CCCSA) as an interpreter and facility coordinator for Chinese seniors at Carter Place. She sits on the Board of the Creative Aging Society of Calgary and is a member of the Grants Advisory Committee for the Calgary Foundation.
Alice looks forward to contributing to the growing community of Calgary immigrants as a member of CIWA Board of Directors, and hopes to encourage like-minded young professionals to give back through community service in whatever way they can.
"I started volunteering at CIWA because I was so impressed by their values and the services they provide to immigrant women and their families in Calgary. Through volunteering, I have been able to get to know the organization better, meet a group of wonderful like-minded individuals, and contribute in my own way to ensure that CIWA is able to continue helping immigrant women meet their full potential for years to come."
